Our firm uses a number of services including Agency Access. One key element to watch out from is spam blocking. Some services have so many users that if one buyer/AD/CD opts out a talent, everyone is opted out from that buyer. That’s a pain. I like to think of my mailing list as my fan base. Who have you worked with or want to work with. It takes 1000 GOOD fans to make a career.

      Howdy All,

Thomas thank you so much for all of the great content that you’ve made available. I sincerely appreciate all your efforts.

Scott, I am also a user of AA, and was wondering about emailers from their service becoming marked as spam. It seems to me that more than the majority of emails I’ve sent out from there never get opened, which leads me to suspect that those emailers were spammed out of the recieving email system.

I would like to know if this is common experience, and if these emailers are being marked as spam, what your reactions have been.

Thanks for the review, Thomas. I’m just getting started with Agency Access and I’m so optimistic about what it will do for my business. It’s certainly more than just a mailing list. I’ll try to post my own review after I’ve worked with them for a few months.

Thanks Michelle. There’s a slight learning curve for the service, but they do a great job of walking you through it and making sure you’ve got it all figured out. Well worth the effort.

Thank you for a great video testimonial. I am in the early stages of starting as a freelance illustrator in Denmark (Europe). Agency Access sounds very interesting, but I wonder if the mailing list is covering the US only or if it somehow can be localized eg. to target book publishers, magazines etc. in the Nordics? Any thoughts on that?

Hi Lars. You have a lot of control over the targeting of your list, and I know that they also offer specific plans for certain geographic areas. Good luck!

@ Lars Bjorstrup Have you tried AA yet? I’m very curious if AA works great with specific geographic areas.

I use Agency Access and it’s great–it’s essential. The team works with you closely and I believe the lists are worth the money. I have also used Adbase for two or three years and I personally found their lists to be less responsive and not as geared to the U.S artist. Adbase does have a more user-friendly process (you send out emails yourself) which I liked. It also allowed the user to input a “personal contacts list” into the database (for your use only). But Keith mentioned that they’re working on something similar. We’ll have to wait and see.

    Hi Thomas
Interesting review, so I’m going to be the decenter here.
I’m a photographer and I have just finished a year with their U.K. counterpart, (Bikinilists) my conclusions, it was completely useless. A bit harsh, however after a 12 months solid marketing ( both email & cards) Not only have I had no commissions, I’ve not received a single query – not one !
So understandably I’m skeptical about these kinds of providers.
Perhaps AA provide more than just lists?, but my experiences from my side of the pond have left me with a sour taste. The proof of any good business is returning customers, You may have gathered I will not be signing up.

Agency Access acquired Adbase as of Sept of this year. The two sites will remain separate but will merge databases, as well as things like access to international lists and FoundFolios. I have an Adbase membership, but if I was to sign up now, Id go for Agency Access. More bang for the buck.
