Seattle Graphic Artists Guild Workshop

Yesterday I had the honor of presenting a workshop for the Seattle Graphic Artists Guild called Future Strategies for Creative Professionals. I was joined by about 30 fellow Illustrators and Designers at the Seattle Design Center to discuss ways to thrive as artists in an industry of rapid, constant change. The main focus of my presentation involved the act of taking control of our art careers and trying to think about our businesses in new and creative ways.

I am grateful for the group’s warm welcome, and especially for the stimulating discussion that followed. Thanks very much for everyone who made it to the event, and special thanks to Sara Chapman, Kim Bateman, and William P Morse for making this possible.

Interested in hosting a presentation in this or other topics. Let’s talk!

Is there a way for anyone who wasn’t able to attend – say oh, in Canada maybe ;) – to see/hear the talk?

Hi Joel. I meant to get an audio recording, but didn’t get to it due to other technical difficulties. I know that someone else videotaped it, so I’m looking into that. Thanks for asking.

    Great talk and Q+A session.

Bonus points for name checking Dripbook, Agency Access, Directory of Illustration, Workbook, iSpot and FIT. This is how it’s done people!

…and I heard Illogator, Design Taxi and Creative Finder, too. Wonderful presentation, Thomas. Illustration lives!

So bummed I missed it! I had a ticket and everything. (Holed up in bed with pneumonia.) So glad you were welcomed by Seattle. I’ll keep checking to see if you are able to share the video. Thanks so much for all of the advice! Your ebook has been very helpful!
