LOVED these interview segments. I love straight shooting and Marshall’s comments were exactly that. He’s got a great radio voice too! That laugh is infectious!
As an illustrator that’s working hard to get my work out there, I found what he said to be really thought provoking. Do work that pleases yourself? That is something I often wrestle with (and I’m sure many other illustrators do as well).
Do what you love and it’ll come through in your work. Very reassuring advice!
I think that many artists/illustrators—from those just starting out, to seasoned pros—can find some encouraging words of wisdom here.

Thomas, I loved this interview…one of the best so far! So much of what he said essentially boils down to ‘do work that is meaningful to you’… it was good to hear this- it is difficult not to fall into the pattern of trying to please others or fit into an existing niche, particularly for those of us just starting out.
