If You Could Choose One Person to Appear on the EFII Podcast…
As we approach Episode 50 of the Escape from Illustration Island Podcast, right around the 1-Year Anniversary of the show, I’ve been looking back on all the amazing people I’ve gotten to talk to.
Several Illustrators, Art Directors, and Art Reps have joined me in my weekly explorations of the joys and challenges of our industry.
I’ve been blessed to meet some of my heroes and find constant inspiration from the ideas that my generous guests bring to the table.
Although I’ve received many requests from the EFII Community about future episodes, I’ve never formally asked:
If you could choose one person to appear on a future episode of the EFII Podcast, who would it be?
Please share your thoughts in the comments section of this post, and I’ll give each one my consideration for a possible interview.
Of course, I’ve already got a wish list of my own, but I want to hear from you! And, if you’ve got more than one person in mind, bring it on.
If you’re new to the show, take a look at who’s already appeared here.
Thanks so much, and here’s to the next 50 episodes!
Stay up-to-date with future Illustration resources via email, Facebook, and Twitter.

I’d pick Bobby Chiu. Not only is he a brilliant artist he has an awesome outlook to life and his own podcasts are infectiously inspiring.
Seconded! I was thinking Bobby Chiu also. I’d like to hear him on the flip side, usually he’s the one doing the interviews!
Jules Feiffer.
I would love to hear from Scott Fischer or John Rocco
Bill Cone!
Bill Cone’s pastels are great

Jillian Tamaki, Tomer Hanuka
It would be great if you could interview Maria Piscopo. :) (too soon?)
Ooh. Ouch. Nice one. :)

Otherwise, art buyers/art directors in the licensing world would be a good choice as they approach hiring illustrators in a slightly different way.
It would be interesting to hear from Sterling Hundley.
Chris Ware springs to mind first.
Aaron Meshon (has great talk on protecting your artwork), Marcos Chin, Paul Blow, Red Nose Studio, Alberto Cerriteño, Travis Lampe, Joy Ang
Art director and illustration advocate Charles Hively…
I had the same thought as Diana: I would love to see someone who could talk about breaking into art licensing. Like for illustrated patterns, etc.
Also maybe an illustrator who does mostly picture books? J. Otto Seibold?
C. B. Cebulski
Dalton Ghetti pencil sculptor.
Illustration: Jillian Tamaki.
Not quite in illustration, but with a fascinating story of developing a unique artistic job and bringing artists together: Gabi Campanario, the Seattle Sketcher & founder of Urban Sketchers. http://www.urbansketchers.com, http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/seattlesketcher/
Melanie Audet is an excellent illustrator. http://www.coroflot.com/melanieaudet
I would suggest a picture book illustrator, or author /illustrator , ex : Babette Cole ,Lucy Cousins,
Lane Smith, Ian Falconer, Kitty Crowther, Carl Cneutt, wolf Elbruch , Sophie Blackall, etc…
Thanks !!!
Uri Shulevitz, children’s book writer and illustrator. He wrote a book about illustrating children’s books from the illustrator’s point of view titled “Writing With Pictures” I believe is the best book out there on the subject.
Illustrator – Brian Cronin
Also I would love to hear more from Art Directors

Leo and Diane Dillon.
Two of the most amazing illustrators I know of, and veterans of the field.
And yes, they are two, but they work as a team. They are two of my all time favorites, since well before college.
Well, I think Leo & Diane Dillon would be superb! They’ve been top-notch since the late 60s early 70s. Whelan would be good, too.
Jillian Tamaki
Kyle Webster. He’s not only an illustrator, but an entrepreneur as well, developing several passive streams of income (iPhone games, graphic novels, among others).
Maurice Sendak
1. Pushead 2. Mike Giant 3. USUGRow
(maybe you can tell I have thing for straight up black ink)
I love Jillian Tamaki :D
