EFII Community Member of the Month – Freddy Boo

I often say that the enthusiastic members of the EFII Community play a major role in helping Escape from Illustration Island to be a useful, interactive resource for our fellow artists. By helping to spread the word, joining the conversations taking place in the comments of posts, and sharing ideas through Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn, Illustrators around the world are contributing to the sense of community and support that I envisioned when I launched this site and its podcast last year.
That’s why I like to highlight someone every month who makes a special effort to lend a hand to this cause. I have to admit that as the community grows it’s becoming harder to select just one person amongst the many who easily fit into this category, so just know that I am eternally grateful to everyone involved.
That being said, this month I want to thank January’s EFII Community Member of the Month, Freddy Boo, for working so hard to spread the word about the many articles and other resources that I publish here. Freddy often shares links via his Twitter account and joins the discussions at EFII.
Here’s a little bit about Freddy Boo in his own words:
I was born in India and raised in England. From a young age I loved to draw and paint. A career in the commercial arts beckoned. I attended Art foundation at Amersham College and later graduated from Leicester University with a BA(Hons) Graphic Design.
I’m based in London, close to the River Thames, where I like to stretch my legs at lunchtime. I’ve been busy developing my style. It’s bold, graphic incorporating humor and clever ideas. My quirky characters have semi circular coloured disks for ears. Recently I’ve been including hand drawn text, a phrase or sentence which doubles to form part of the characters body.
I learned how to code html and CSS, this enabled me to build my website freddyboo.com to promote my new illustration service. I’ve recently embraced Twitter. It’s a great way for gaining exposure. This is were Thomas who runs Escape From Illustration Island discovered me.
Thanks again to Freddy for his continued support. I’ll be sending him a nifty Escape From Illustration Island coffee mug from the EFII Zazzle store as a token of thanks.
