Someone Would Love to Hire You Right Now

December 9, 2009

Escapee Speaks:

I have great news for you.

There is someone out there who would love to hire you for their next Illustration project.

It can be easy to become discouraged by your lack of work or the fact that there are more “No” answers than “Yes”.  However, it’s important to remember that some percentage of the population would be very interested in working with you.

Obviously, part of your job is to increase this percentage by improving your skills and your services, but another crucial part is seeking out those people who would already be very happy to hire you.  In other words, there is work out there right now waiting for you to reach out and grab it.

So, whether you promote yourself through promo mailers, cold calls, social networking, emails, or some other means of advertising, I encourage you to keep going, and to expand your reach until you find your next Illustration project.

Escapee has spoken.

Do you become frustrated with the process of seeking out work?  I invite you to share your thoughts in the comments.

I just started using post cards this past year in addition to emails and cold calls. It took about six months after I sent the initial batch, but the post cards have started to help land me some much bigger projects and opportunities!
