This is a good collection of resources, a couple of which I wasn’t aware of. As I’m currently considering whether to transition to freelance that’s very timely!
many thanks for sharing them :-)
For the freelance photo industry try http://www.1ProPhoto.Com & http://www.1Procrew.Com a resource for photographers to find photo assistants, digital techs and lighting technicians.
Currently the largest such database in the world, and still FREE after 12 years.

Nice list! There are more resources available online which can help you in establishing your online business such as Elance, LimeExchange, Odesk, Guru etc. These freelance job websites offer a huge number of freelance projects and tools to enhance you business.
Thanks for those additions. I think the sites you mentioned work at varying degrees of success, but I guess that’s true for just about everything. Different sites work differently for different people.
Thanks for the Freelancer Magazine mention, Thomas! Quick note, we’re planning on launching a community news section in the next month or so. Will give other indie publishers an avenue to promote their writings, and offer our readers an expanded our content base.
Keep up the great writing here, too
