Poll Results: How Do You Escape From Illustration Island?
A couple of months ago, I asked EFII readers to answer the following question:
How do you Escape From Illustration Island?
147 people participated in the poll, and I thought I’d share the results here so you could see the ways that your fellow Illustrators are escaping from the isolation of the studio and connecting with the outside world.
22% Listen to Podcasts
15% Social Networking
11% Illustration Community Websites
9% I’m trapped. Help!
9% Collaborate with others
8% Get out of the studio
7% Share resources
6% Forums
6% Teaching / Speaking Engagements
2% Artist Collectives
1% Critique group
1% Artist Organizations
4% of the responders chose to enter their own answers:
Document my process
Family art time
Therapy :)
Taking it out in nature
Build something
As you can see, there was a wide variety of ways that people Escape From Illustration Island.
As a big fan of podcasts, I was selfishly happy to see that choice at the top of the list, and I was surprised to see Artist Organizations at the bottom. Also, although I included the “I’m trapped. Help!” choice due to my sense of humor, it was one of the higher ranking options. I can only hope that EFII is helping those who feel that way to find a light at the end of the tunnel.
Thanks to everyone for participating. Stay tuned for another poll in the near future.
