Someone else can argue about whether or not Drawger is technically a blog, but it’s updated daily and probably should be required reading/ viewing.

wish there was a really good free caricature blog to link up with. Is caricature art considered illustration???

    • November 12, 2009 1:55 PM

Caricature, if created for a purpose, be it for reproduction or a fee, is illustration. I know you all hate the phrase “commercial art” but that is what it is…Art for Commerce. You didn’t wake up and say “Today I am gonna do Obama in a tutu.” No, your i-phone vibrated and there was a tweet from http://www.operanewstoday.com asking you to draw the President as a ballerina. Commercial.

      • November 13, 2009 12:02 AM

Actually i wake up most days and decide i will do that tu-tu because its a portfolio piece which does attract commercial interest and i agree that caricatures produced for a customer is commercial. Thanks for your reply. I wish i could afford an i-phone, heehee….

It’s blog about that mainly discusses the history of illustration. I especially love the comments section. It’s always great to read serious discussions about the craft as well as know that there are people out there with a passion and appreciation for the art of illustration.

Mainly featuring vehicles and mechs that have a distinctly sci-fi/video-game look bent to their design. There doesn’t seem to be much discussion about the submissions, but the gallery is definitely worth a look, and it’s updated fairly often.
